CB DEVO | DH PROGRAM | GRADES 3-8

THIS group requires athletes to be added in your profile. Added athletes will have to be approved by admin first before being accepted to this group.

For 2023, CB Devo Downhill Programming will be on the same registration timeline as our standard programming with 2022 participants able to complete early registration during the pre-registration window, February 20 – March 5, 2023.  DH only programming availability will once again be extremely limited this season.  New Athlete applications will be accepted from March 13-26, 2023 with team announcements and waitlist notifications on April 15, 2023.  You must complete user registration before accessing this New Athlete Application.

Drop-off and pick-up will be at the Crested Butte Mountain Resort Bike Park base area where the treehouse once stood.  Coaches will meet at 8:30 am for our “daily huddle” and we kindly ask that your child is at the base area no later than 8:45 am gearing up.  Our goal is to be READY TO LOAD at 9 am sharp.  Riders are expected to be picked up no later than 3:15 pm at the Crested Butte Mountain Resort base area unless otherwise communicated in advance with CB Devo admin.

In the event of lightning and/or poor trail conditions due to thunderstorms, programming will be postponed or canceled and there will be no make-up days offered as we cannot guarantee coach availability after posted program dates.  We will be communicating closely with CBMR staff on all weather and trail conditions so that we are able to keep you all informed to the best of our ability.  Please be sure to sign up to receive Team App notifications!!

  • Age / Grade Level

In 2023, the CB Devo Downhill Program is open to 2023-24 school year grades 3-12 only and will follow all CB Devo standard program registration process + deadlines.

Why is there no programming offered for riders younger than Jr. Devo grade 3?  For the same reason, we offer one-day a week programming for Mini Devo – 2 riders and half-day programming for our Mini Devo – 1 and younger riders, we believe that these riders have so much to learn about the safe fundamentals of mountain biking – such as good vision, body position, and spatial awareness – and this will continue to be our focus with these younger age groups.  Additionally, we want to be absolutely sure that these riders have a solid understanding of good trail etiquette and what it means to be a respectful trail user.  Please note that we will be getting our younger groups on the mountain during their regularly scheduled CB Devo days throughout the season to work on descending skills.

  • Goal

To develop safe descending skills at an early age that will make the downhills in the backcountry infinitely more incredible!!  We are so grateful to have the opportunity to teach safe descending skills with the repetition that will be provided by this lift access.

  • Bike + Protective Equipment Requirements

A mountain bike with suspension (full suspension with disc brakes strongly recommended), full-face helmet, goggles or sunglasses, full-finger gloves, knee pads and a chest protector will be required for all blue & black groups with elbow pads strongly recommended.  While a full-face helmet, elbow pads, and chest protector are not required for green level riders, they are all strongly recommended.  Eye protection, a good fitting half-shell helmet, full-finger gloves, and knee pads are required without exception.  No safety equipment, no ride, period.

Each rider should have an extra tube, a pump, multi-tool, and tire lever set as our coaches will be conducting on-trail maintenance clinics to help athletes become more independent with their bike maintenance needs.

  • Helmet

A full-face helmet will be required for all blue & black groups, NO EXCEPTIONS!  A full-face helmet is strongly recommended for all athletes; however, a good fitting half-shell helmet is the minimum requirement for green level riders.

    Green – Hotdogger, Awakening, Primer

    Blue – Luge, Teaser, Frequency

    Black – Avery, Timeline, Woods

  • Skills

Riders will be grouped according to technical skill and bike park experience.  Coaches will evaluate all riders and place them in groups that will allow safe progression throughout the summer.

We anticipate having green, blue, and black level groups each day with the ability for riders to “choose their challenge” for the day with the support and guidance of their coaches.

    Green – Hotdogger, Awakening, Primer

    Blue – Luge, Teaser, Frequency

    Black – Avery, Timeline, Woods

  • Price

$630 – one day per week for the entire nine-week season; $560 for Tuesday only riders as there is NO PROGRAMMING ON TUESDAY, JULY 4

$1,260 – two days per week for the entire nine-week season; $1,190 for those riding on Tuesday + Friday as there is NO PROGRAMMING ON TUESDAY, JULY 4

These days are in addition to two days of standard CB Devo programming for Jr. Devo and Devo groups.  We will have a limited number of spots available for those who choose to join CB Devo for Downhill Programming only.  Those wishing to participate in CB Devo programming must submit a New Athlete Application during that window, March 13-26, 2023.  Please visit the Summer Athlete Registration Process page on our website for more information.

Is there drop-in programming available?  Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult to manage group dynamics with irregular, drop-in athletes; therefore, we do not offer this program option.

  • CB Devo DH Program Schedule

All Groups | Fridays 9am – 3pm (pre-registered CB Devo athletes); Jr. Devo Boys and Devo Girls + Boys can add this additional day for a two/days per week program option

  • CB Devo DH Program Season

    June 20 – August 18 (9 weeks)

NO PROGRAMMING ON TUESDAY, JULY 4

We will be using the first week that the Crested Butte Resort Bike Park is open for staff training, team building, and communicating program details with our registered families.  Standard CB Devo programming will begin on Monday, June 12 and we will be working hard this first week to get groups established for both our standard trail + downhill programs.
